Severe aggravating circumstances are not necessary to support imposition of a sentence greater than double the presumptive term when an offender is sentenced under the patterned sex offender statute. Absent severe aggravating circumstances, a trial court may not depart durationally and with respect to consecutive service to impose a sentence longer than double the presumptive term.
