On appeal from his conviction and sentence for the assault against his former girlfriend, Courtney argues that the district court abused its discretion by (1) admitting the hearsay statements of his former girlfriend and her six-year-old daughter, (2) denying his request for a continuance where his newly retained attorney had only a day to prepare for trial, and (3) granting the states challenge for cause of a juror who indicated skepticism of police without allowing the defense to rehabilitate the juror.
